Sonu Nigam Sells Karjat Land For Rs 19.5 mn

Singer Sonu Nigam has sold multiple land parcels in Savele village in Karjat taluka, Raigad district, for a total consideration of Rs 19.5 million (Rs 19.5 mn). The transactions were recorded in property registration documents and were completed across four deals on April seven, 2026, involving different buyers. The parcels measured about zero point four hectares, zero point seven hectares, zero point six hectares and zero point two hectares, and were sold for five million (Rs 5 mn), seven point five million (Rs 7.5 mn), five million (Rs 5 mn) and two million (Rs 2 mn) respectively, with stamp duty of one point one seven million (Rs 1.17 mn) paid.

The properties lie in Savele, a scenic part of Karjat taluka that is drawing interest from investors and buyers seeking second homes. Karjat is being positioned as part of the broader Mumbai three point zero vision and its appeal has been boosted by proximity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport and by improved connectivity from infrastructure projects. Distances to major Mumbai hubs are about 50 to 100 kilometres, with travel times ranging between 90 minutes and three hours by road.

The transactions follow other recent property moves linked to the singer and his family, signalling continued activity in the Mumbai region. In 2025 Sonu Nigam leased a commercial property in Santacruz East on a five year period at total rent exceeding Rs 126.1 million (Rs 126.1 mn), and a relative acquired a land parcel in Madh Island for Rs 100 million (Rs 100 mn) earlier in the year. Developers are increasingly targeting Karjat for plotting projects, farmhouses and villas to meet demand for open spaces and weekend homes.

Maharashtra authorities have promoted Raigad as an economic extension of Mumbai through land pooling policies and planned townships, which observers say is driving interest. Land prices vary by location and amenities and are reported between Rs 1,000 and Rs 7,000 per square foot. The deals reflect how local policy and connectivity are reshaping investment patterns in the region.
