The country’s big expansion plans for Rajahmundry airport

The first phase of the mega Polavaram project on the Godavari will be completed by the Andhra Pradesh government with the assistance of the Union Government. This will release water even into the left canal by 2018, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, reportedly mentioned. He recently laid the foundation stone for the expansion of the Madhurapudi Airport at a cost of Rs 202 crore. Further, 857 acre has been acquired for the airport expansion works. 

It is known that the runway will be extended to facilitate the landing of bigger aircrafts, as well as other facilities will be upgraded at the airport. The airport expansion works will pave the way for the development of the two Godavari districts. And, Rs 300 crore has been reportedly spent for land acquisition. 

Naidu is determined to completing the Polavaram project and lay a firm foundation for the prosperity of the two Godavari districts in particular and the state in general. The Union Government has also asured that it will take the necessary steps to improve the airports in Andhra Pradesh. Further, the recent package sanctioned by the Centre for the state is expected to pave the way for its all-round development. Also, the foundation stone for BEL’s Advanced Night Visions Products factory at Nimmaluru, Krishna district was laid. The project will have an investment of Rs 300 crore over the next four years and employment of nearly 1,000. The state government has provided 50 acre in the village which is near Machilipatnam.
