Andhra Pradesh Accelerates Road Works to Bhogapuram Airport

The Andhra Pradesh government has moved to accelerate construction of roads connecting to Bhogapuram airport to ensure timely operational readiness and to improve access for passengers and cargo. The decision follows a review of project timelines and seeks to remove bottlenecks in approach roads and related infrastructure. State officials have instructed implementing agencies to prioritise completion of link roads and ancillary works.\n\nThe works include the strengthening and widening of feeder roads, construction of new connectors to major highways and improvement of internal circulation near the airport precinct. Responsibility for execution has been assigned to state public works departments and allied contractors, with emphasis on coordinated scheduling and minimal disruption to existing traffic. Detailed surveys and expedited tendering processes are expected to speed up mobilisation of resources.\n\nThe accelerated programme is intended to enhance last mile connectivity for the new airport and to support seamless passenger transfers and logistics movements. Officials have highlighted the role of the road works in unlocking broader economic opportunities in the region, including support for tourism, trade and ancillary services, and to generate short term employment for local contractors and labourers.
