Centre to include northern Ring Rd in Jaipur under vision 2047 plan

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) are currently working on the incorporation of the northern Ring Road Corridor Project in Jaipur into the Union government's Vision 2047 plan, deviating from the previous Bharatmala II project.

A senior NHAI official expressed uncertainties regarding the implementation of Bharatamala II projects. Given MoRTH minister Nitin Gadkari's keen interest in the Ring Road corridor project for Jaipur, NHAI and MoRTH are exploring avenues to integrate it into another program of the Union government for expedited execution. It is highly likely that it will be included in the Union government's Vision 2047 program," the official stated.

The Northern Ring Road project is bifurcated into two segments, with NHAI tasked to link the two arms of the Ring Road. The first arm will extend from the Mahapura area of Ajmer Road, the starting point of the existing Southern Ring Road, and terminate at Chandwaji village on Delhi Road. The second arm will connect Chandwaji village to Bagrana village on Agra Road, concluding at the present endpoint of the Southern Ring Road.

Upon the completion of the Northern Ring Road, the entire corridor will adopt the form of a ring encircling the outskirts of the main city. An NHAI official elucidated that the ring road would connect four crucial highways, namely Ajmer Road, Tonk Road, Agra Road, and Delhi Road, on all four sides of the city.

Tough Bidding Norms Slow NHAI Road Project Awards

Stringent bidding rules imposed by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) have led to a slowdown in project awards by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), despite a robust Rs 3.5 trillion pipeline.
