Haryana Chief Minister Orders High Quality Standards For Roads

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini reviewed activities of the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board and directed that roads being constructed under its remit must strictly adhere to prescribed standards with no compromise on quality. He asked officials to ensure that no road in the state remains damaged and to prioritise prompt repairs. The review was conducted during a meeting with departmental officials in Chandigarh.

He conducted a detailed review of budget announcements relating to the establishment of rural haats and purchase centres, construction and maintenance of roads, issuance of gate passes for crops, Agromalls, cleanliness in mandis, pack houses and cold storage facilities, Atal Canteens and Sankalp Patra commitments. Sites for setting up rural haats and purchase centres have been identified at 12 locations in the state and sheds will be constructed at these sites at a cost of approximately Rs 3-3.5 million (mn) each. Similar haat centres will also be established at the block level to broaden market access.

He directed officials to ensure proper cleanliness arrangements in all grain markets across the state and to monitor adherence to sanitation standards. Pack houses and cold storage facilities will be developed in Karnal, Yamunanagar and Narnaul and tenders for those projects have already been awarded. The Agromall at Rohtak has become operational while necessary action is under way for Agromalls in Karnal, Panipat and Panchkula.

He said tenders for the Pinjore Apple Market will be floated shortly and that the existing vegetable market in Gurugram, located in a congested urban area, will be shifted to the proposed flower market being developed on 22 acres of land at Kaliyawas. Similarly, the vegetable market in Faridabad will be relocated outside the city in the near future to ease congestion. These relocations are intended to improve market logistics and provide a better trading environment for farmers and traders.
