Katraj-Dehu Road bypass: NHAI implements 24 corrective measures

In January, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) implemented the corrective measures due to a lot of accidents from October to December previous year on the Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass, particularly between Bhumkar Chowk and Navale bridge.

The city traffic police suggested and provided a list of 24 corrective points to the NHAI to avoid accidents on the section among the New Katraj tunnel to Vadgaon bridge on the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass in December 2020 following a spate of accidents that happened on the stretch.

Nandkishor Shelke, Police Inspector (traffic), informed that every corrective measure suggested by them has been implemented and executed by the NHAI. He said that they are continuously fining the drivers speeding heavily on the bypass. Meanwhile, the police teams are constantly patrolling the bypass to prevent accidents by clearing the traffic.

Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass links Pune-Satara Road and Pune-Saswad road, bypassing the city. It begins in the suburb of Katraj and passes via the outskirts of Undri, Katraj, Handewadi till Manterwadi.
