Marathahalli Bridge To Close For Three Days For Namma Metro Work

Marathahalli bridge will be closed to all traffic from Friday, 27 March to Sunday, 29 March for metro construction, the city traffic police announced. Commuters on the Outer Ring Road and those travelling towards Whitefield are advised to use diversion routes during the three-day closure. The work forms part of Bengaluru Metro Phase-2A Blue Line project that runs 19.75 kilometres from Central Silk Board to K R Puram and includes 13 elevated stations. The line is expected to be completed by December 2026.\n\nThe Marathahalli bridge at the intersection of Varthur Main Road is a key section of the route and the temporary prohibition of vehicular movement aims to ensure safe progress of construction. Traffic authorities said vehicles from HAL towards Varthur and Whitefield and those from Varthur and Whitefield towards HAL via the bridge will be affected. Detailed alternative routes have been issued to help commuters navigate the closure and minimise disruption. Drivers have been asked to allow extra time and plan journeys accordingly.\n\nFor traffic from HAL to Varthur and Whitefield, the recommended diversion runs via Varthur Main Road, a left at Doddanekundi Junction, onward to Kartik Nagar and the Outer Ring Road, a U turn under the Doddanekundi flyover and then via Alpine Eco Road, Anjaneya Junction, Kundalahalli Main Road and Graphite Road. For traffic from Varthur and Whitefield towards HAL, motorists may take Varthur Main Road, a right at Kundalahalli Junction, continue to Anjaneya Junction, then Alpine Eco Road and the Outer Ring Road before turning right at Kartik Nagar Junction and proceeding via Doddanekundi Main Road back to Varthur Main Road.\n\nAn alternate route via Vibgyor Junction, Vibgyor School Road, Balagere Main Road, Kadubeesanahalli Junction and the Outer Ring Road is available for drivers seeking to avoid the main diversions. Authorities advised that signage and traffic personnel will be deployed at key points and asked commuters to follow directions. Minor delays and congestion are expected during the three days while work proceeds.
