NHAI builds 6,644 km of roads, spends Rs 2.07 trillion in 2023-24

The National Highways Authority of India had expended a record amount of Rs 2.07 trillion in the construction of national highways during the fiscal year 2023-24. This marked the highest ever capital expenditure recorded to date, showing a notable increase of 20% from the Rs 1.73 trillion spent in the previous fiscal year of 2022-23 and Rs 1.72 trillion in 2021-22.

The official further mentioned that the construction of highways during the recently concluded financial year had also exceeded past achievements. It was reported that 6,644 km of highways were constructed during this period, compared to the 5,544 km built in the preceding financial year. This indicated a growth of 20% in highway construction activities.
