Noida to Build Diamond-Shaped Interchange at Bhangel Elevated Road

Noida Authority has approved construction of a diamond-shaped interchange at Bhangel Elevated Road to ease chronic congestion and improve connectivity in the southern sector. The project will reconfigure junction geometry to separate through traffic from local movements and provide dedicated ramps for smoother flow. Officials said the design responds to growing traffic volumes and aims to reduce delays for commuters. The scheme will prioritise pedestrian and cyclist access alongside vehicle movement.

The interchange design is intended to facilitate uninterrupted movement along the elevated corridor while allowing efficient access to adjacent arterial roads and service lanes. Planners envisage grade separation and loop ramps that will distribute turning movements without impeding mainline traffic. The layout is expected to improve safety by reducing conflict points and by providing clear traffic lanes for different movements. Traffic modelling informed the design to balance capacity and safety for all road users.

Construction will be carried out in phases to maintain traffic flow and minimise disruption, with traffic diversions and temporary measures deployed at critical stages. Work will involve civil engineering, road surfacing and drainage improvements as well as signalling upgrades to integrate the new geometry with existing traffic management systems. Coordination with local authorities and stakeholders will guide scheduling to limit peak hour impacts. Environmental safeguards and stormwater measures will be incorporated during construction.

The interchange forms part of a wider programme of urban transport enhancements in Noida that targets resilient mobility and reduced travel times. Authorities plan to monitor performance and adjust operations once the interchange is commissioned to ensure it meets traffic demand. The project highlights an ongoing focus on targeted infrastructure interventions to support urban growth and commuter convenience. Regular reviews and performance data will inform any operational adjustments after opening.
