Two expressway stretches have been developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) — Delhi-Meerut and Easter Peripheral Expressways. Significant portions of these two are within UP.

The NHAI has additionally taken up the development of a 210-km expressway beginning from Akshardham in Delhi and ending in Dehradun.

Around 191 km of this expressway comes in UP.

Now, the government is concentrating on expressways and greenfield highways across the nation. But Uttar Pradesh has taken the lead to develop its expressways with its own funds. No other state can compete with UP in this enormous infrastructure push to enhance connectivity within a state, as per an NHAI official.
