K2 Infragen Wins Rs 2.62 Billion Rail Electrification Contract

K2 Infragen has secured a Rs 2.62 billion contract from Indian Railways to upgrade the traction power system along the Luni–Bhildi section spanning Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The project involves the design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a 2×25 kV AC traction system, including traction substations, sectioning posts and SCADA systems. The contract forms part of Indian Railways’ broader electrification and capacity expansion programme.

The order has been awarded to a joint venture between K2 Infragen and Salasar Techno Engineering, with K2 Infragen holding a 74 per cent stake. The company said the project would further strengthen its execution credentials in railway electrification and power systems.

With this contract, K2 Infragen’s order book has crossed Rs 5 billion, positioning the company for larger opportunities in railway power and transmission infrastructure. The firm said it remains focused on expanding its footprint in rail electrification while ensuring timely delivery and high-quality project execution.
