Northeast Frontier Railway Steps Up Investment in Railway School Infrastructure

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has intensified efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure across its jurisdiction, reaffirming its commitment to improving learning environments in railway-run schools.

As part of this initiative, NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava laid the foundation stone for the construction of an additional double-storey academic block with 20 new rooms at Netaji Vidyapith Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon. The new building is expected to address growing space requirements and support better academic delivery.

Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northeast Frontier Railway, said multiple development works are progressing simultaneously at the Maligaon school. These include the establishment of a dedicated laboratory complex, provision of modern furniture, green boards, smart boards and CCTV systems, creation of a digital library, and upgradation of computer laboratory facilities.

Additional improvements planned at the campus include upgraded teacher rooms, modernised toilet complexes, installation of water RO units, a music room, covered sheds, auditorium enhancement, fencing, and development of the circulating area. These measures are aimed at creating a safer, more modern and student-friendly learning environment.

The CPRO said several other projects, both completed and ongoing, are significantly transforming railway school infrastructure across the NFR zone. Ongoing initiatives include renovation and development works at Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon, along with construction of a modern playground, improved prayer ground, upgraded boundary wall, vehicle parking area, entrance gate and smart classrooms.

Work is also progressing on the construction and repair of the Dimapur Railway High School building and the renovation and improvement of Railway Higher Secondary School, Alipurduar.

In recent months, NFR has completed key projects such as repair and renovation of Railway Girls High School at New Jalpaiguri, development of playgrounds and prayer grounds, reconstruction of boundary walls, creation of parking facilities and entrance gates, and upgradation of Banimandir Railway Higher Secondary School at Siliguri. Renovation works at Railway Higher Secondary School, Lumding, and upgradation of Railway Higher Secondary School, Badarpur, have also been completed.

Sharma said these initiatives reflect NFR’s long-term vision to enhance academic facilities, strengthen basic infrastructure and create modern, student-centric spaces. With continued upgrades, planned expansions and a strong focus on digital and infrastructural development, NFR remains committed to supporting educational excellence across its jurisdiction.
