South Central Railway issues bids for 1.78 MW rooftop solar projects

The Secunderabad Division, Electrical, South Central Railway, has announced a tender for rooftop solar projects totalling 1.782 MW across various facilities such as station buildings, service buildings, residential buildings, and level crossing gates. Bidders have until June 5, 2024, to submit their proposals. The project entails the design, supply, erection, and commissioning of rooftop grid-connected solar systems ranging from 10 kW to 500 kW capacity at different sites. It adheres to the ?Make in India? policy and includes the installation of solar modules, inverters, net meters, cabling, earthing arrangements, and associated infrastructure. With a project value of Rs 141.6 million, a earnest money deposit of Rs 858,500 is required. Completion is expected within six months. Bidders must demonstrate a minimum average annual contractual turnover equivalent to the tender value or calculated value based on completion time, validated from audited balance sheets of the past three financial years. They should also have a track record of executing similar projects over the last seven years, meeting specific criteria for project size and experience. Additionally, possessing a valid ?B? grade electrical license is mandatory. In a similar vein, the Varanasi Division, Electrical, North Eastern Railway, recently issued a tender for 1.15 MW rooftop solar projects at railway stations, focusing on on-grid solar photovoltaic systems. Previously, Indian Railways had invited bids for 2.33 MW rooftop solar power projects, signalling a commitment to renewable energy adoption without central financial assistance. (Source: Mercom)
