Shimla to invite tenders for 25 car parks

The Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) will be inviting tenders for 25 car parks to accommodate over 3,000 vehicles in the city on 27th June.

As per official information, these 25 car parks will be a great advantage during the tourist season and will have the capacity to accommodate more than 3,000 vehicles. The car parks under the Smart City project will have a capacity of up to 400 vehicles, while the smaller car parks will have an average capacity of 15 to 25 vehicles. The SMC aims to allocate tenders for the larger car parks by 31st March 2024.

This announcement was made during an MC meeting. According to reports, the city's Mayor, Surender Chauhan, stated, "In addition to the car parks under the Smart City project, which can hold 250 to 400 vehicles, the Shimla MC will invite tenders for smaller car parks with an average capacity of 15 to 25 vehicles."

Chauhan further mentioned that the MC had decided to allocate tenders for the larger car parks by 31st March 2024. "There are 40 sites included in the project that will alleviate the problem of insufficient parking space in the city."

He stated that tenders would be invited on 27th June, and if no party expressed interest, the councillor of the ward would oversee its management. Additionally, the SMC would charge Rs 11,328 per vehicle per year.
