Chhattisgarh CM Attends Samvad 2026 To Boost Solar Energy

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai (CM) attended Samvad 2026, a two day dialogue organised by the Chhattisgarh Solar Welfare Association (CSWA) in Raipur that focused on promoting and developing solar energy across the state. The event brought together stakeholders from the solar sector from across India and concluded after extensive discussions on practical measures to expand deployment and domestic manufacturing. The CM outlined the government intent to support policy measures and facilitate industry collaboration to accelerate capacity addition.

A National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) report cited at the event identified chemicals, textiles, telecom and network equipment, and solar photovoltaic manufacturing as key sectors that can position India as a global manufacturing hub. The report highlighted potential to increase domestic value addition through expanded downstream production and improved feedstock utilisation, and recommended leveraging free trade agreements and targeted competitiveness investments. It also noted opportunities to reduce import dependence and strengthen supply chains.

The report estimated the domestic photovoltaic market at Rs 32,400 crore, equivalent to Rs 324 bn, or about USD 3.7 bn, and projected growth at a 17-20 per cent compound annual growth rate between fiscal 2023 and fiscal 2030 driven by utility scale projects, rooftop installations, open access and green hydrogen related demand. It observed that strengthening upstream capabilities in solar manufacturing would be central to boosting domestic value addition. Delegates at the dialogue discussed measures to leverage these trends.

State officials and industry representatives outlined policy options and infrastructure priorities to catalyse investment and expedite project execution, and the CM reiterated commitments to simplify clearances and support grid integration. The dialogue organisers highlighted the need for skill development and supply chain localisation to capture higher value within the state economy. Further technical sessions are planned to translate deliberations into actionable road maps for stakeholders.
