Bengaluru Picks Kengeri for 250-Metre Sky Deck Project

Karnataka has approved a 250-metre sky deck tower to be built at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout in Kengeri, Bengaluru. The site, owned by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), spans twenty-five acres and was selected for its feasibility and planned metro connectivity.

Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar confirmed the shift from the originally proposed Hemmigepura site, which was ruled out due to aviation safety restrictions and land disputes with the NICE corridor. Once completed, the sky deck is expected to become a major tourist destination, offering panoramic views of the city.

In a related development, the state government will soon invite tenders for Bengaluru’s long-awaited tunnel road project. Shivakumar said the first phase will focus on a single tunnel, with careful planning of entry and exit points. The route will avoid Vidhana Soudha to preserve heritage and ensure security.

The Deputy Chief Minister also provided updates on a 114-kilometre elevated corridor linking Minister K J George’s constituency to Kempegowda International Airport. The corridor is part of a larger initiative to reduce congestion and enhance airport access.
