MahaRERA Issues Notices To 8,212 Projects For Missing QPRs

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has issued notices to 8,212 real estate projects for failing to update their Quarterly Progress Report (QPR) on the regulator's portal. The regulator said the move forms part of intensified compliance checks and aims to ensure timely construction progress disclosures to homebuyers and stakeholders. Developers were given a deadline to submit missing entries and were warned that continued non-compliance would attract regulatory action and fines.

MahaRERA instructed promoters to furnish accurate stage-wise work details, timelines and statutory clearances in the QPR so that buyers could monitor project progress. The authority also asked registry officers to verify submissions against site inspections and documentation to prevent discrepancies. Officials emphasised that consistent reporting would improve accountability in the sector and reduce disputes over project completion. The regulator allowed a short window for corrections and instructed that electronic records must be reconciled with site registers.

The issuance of notices follows a review of filings on the MahaRERA online platform that identified gaps in quarterly updates across launching, construction and possession phases. The regulator noted that lapses in reporting hindered transparent tracking of milestones and complicated grievance redressal for consumers. It indicated that repeat offenders would face listing of penalties, suspension of registration benefits and other corrective measures under the regulatory framework. Complaints logged through the grievance portal will be tracked against filing histories to identify chronic non-reporting promoters.

Consumer groups welcomed the stepped up oversight and urged sustained monitoring to ensure developers complied with reporting obligations, while industry representatives called for clearer timelines to align field realities with portal requirements. MahaRERA said it would continue audits and will publish compliance scores to encourage best practice among promoters. The authority set out that the exercise aimed to protect homebuyers and strengthen trust in residential real estate delivery across the state.
