Jammu Kashmir Govt Sets Up Committee to Support MSMEs

The Jammu Kashmir government has constituted a high-level committee to improve the business environment for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Union Territory. The committee aims to facilitate ease of doing business and streamline compliance across departments.

The committee includes senior officials from the Finance Department, Industries and Commerce, Labour and Employment, Indian Institutes of Management and Technology in Jammu, NABARD, SIDBI, Reserve Bank of India, J&K Bank, and other industry stakeholders.

The Administrative Secretary of the Finance Department will chair the committee, while the Administrative Secretary of Industries and Commerce will act as Member Secretary.

The committee’s responsibilities include suggesting ways to enhance the MSME business ecosystem, reviewing regulatory frameworks, reducing compliance burdens, and addressing non-regulatory barriers like access to credit and infrastructure. It will also work on integrating unregistered MSMEs into the formal economy.

This initiative supports the government’s goal to boost entrepreneurship, promote industrial growth, and generate employment in Jammu Kashmir.

The order was issued by M. Raju, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government.
