Motherson Sumi Clarifies Labour Protests Impact On Operations

Motherson Sumi Wiring India Limited filed a clarification with the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE in relation to recent labour protests in Noida and similar incidents in other cities. The company said the matter was a broader labour issue affecting multiple industries and was being driven by misinformation about wage revisions. The company stated that its operations remained compliant with all applicable laws and that there was no material impact on its business. The safety of employees was said to remain the top priority.

The filing indicated that authorities were working closely with industry stakeholders to restore normality as quickly as possible. The company attributed the unrest in part to the spread of incorrect information concerning pay adjustments and wage revisions. It confirmed that there had been no interruption to its manufacturing and supply activities that would be material to operations. The company emphasised that it continued to monitor the situation and to prioritise employee welfare.

The clarification was submitted pursuant to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015 and was to be released to the media simultaneously. The submission was signed by the company secretary and indicated that the company would keep stakeholders informed through prescribed disclosure channels. The company reiterated that it remained committed to compliance and safety.

The company said it would continue to engage with authorities and industry bodies while maintaining operational continuity and safeguarding personnel across its manufacturing sites and offices. It noted that any material development would be disclosed promptly in accordance with regulatory requirements and exchange rules. Stakeholders, including investors, employees and suppliers, were to be kept apprised through formal exchange filings, press releases and other authorised media communications.
