PM Modi Unveils Rs 51.25 Billion Projects in Arunachal Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday unveiled infrastructure projects worth Rs 51.25 billion in Arunachal Pradesh.
From a function at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar, he virtually laid the foundation stones for two major hydropower projects in Shi Yomi district and a convention centre in Tawang.
The 186 MW Tato-I project will be developed jointly by the Arunachal Pradesh government and the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) at a cost of Rs 17.5 billion. It is expected to generate around 802 million units of electricity annually.
The 240 MW Heo project, also a joint venture of the state government and NEEPCO, will be built at Rs 19.39 billion and is projected to produce 1,000 million units of electricity each year. Both projects on the Yarjep River aim to expand Arunachal Pradesh’s hydroelectric capacity and strengthen regional energy security, officials said.
Modi also laid the foundation stone for a convention centre in Tawang under the PM-DevINE scheme at Rs 1.45 billion. Designed to host over 1,500 people, the centre will meet international standards and enhance the tourism and cultural potential of the region.
Additionally, the Prime Minister launched several other infrastructure projects worth over Rs 12.9 billion, covering sectors including connectivity, health, and fire safety.
Governor KT Parnaik, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju attended the programme.
