Power Mech Secures Rs 2.96 bn Mumbai Monorail O&M Contract

Power Mech Projects Limited (PMPL) has secured an operations and maintenance contract from Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) for the Mumbai Monorail. The contract covers O&M of the 19.54 km corridor and 17 stations between Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk and Chembur for a period of five years. The award represents a total contract value of Rs 2.96 bn excluding GST. The company said the contract marks strategic entry into urban transit operations.

The scope of services includes comprehensive lifecycle O&M activities, operation of new advanced rolling stock and management of the new and upgraded Communication Based Train Control signalling system. The Mumbai Monorail has been in service since 2014 and is India's only straddle monorail system, making specialised urban transit expertise essential. PMPL will be responsible for maintaining reliability, punctuality and safety across the corridor while coordinating with the owner for system performance.

PMPL described the award as strategically significant, signalling entry into the urban mobility sector and reinforcing its position as an O&M provider in the infrastructure market. The company indicated that the contract creates synergy between its established industrial operations and maintenance capabilities and the specialised demands of urban transit operations. It said qualified personnel will be deployed and that operations will focus on efficient, on-time performance with enhanced passenger safety and comfort.

PMPL noted that improving connectivity to other metro, suburban and railway lines will expand the commuter base served by its operations over time. The company said the contract reflects confidence in its technical expertise, execution discipline and safety-first culture and underlined the requirement for round-the-clock readiness, high reliability and strict compliance in urban transit O&M. PMPL committed to supporting MMMOCL in a smooth transition to enhance service reliability and passenger experience.
