Pralhad Joshi Invites Global Capital for India’s Clean Energy Push

At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi recently called on global investors to partner with India in building resilient, scalable and investment-ready clean energy infrastructure. Speaking at the session on resilient infrastructure, he highlighted India’s progress in combining scale with system resilience under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Minister noted that India has achieved 267 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity as of December 2025 and remains on track to meet its 2030 targets, supported by strong policy frameworks, domestic manufacturing, grid modernisation, energy storage and emerging initiatives in geothermal and nuclear energy. He emphasised the role of patient capital, blended finance and collaboration among governments, private players and multilateral institutions in advancing the global energy transition.

At a sustainability roundtable, the Minister underlined that sustainability is now central to economic growth and competitiveness. He reiterated India’s commitment to net-zero emissions by 2070, guided by the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, and positioned renewables as the most affordable and future-ready growth pathway.

On the sidelines, the Minister held bilateral meetings with counterparts and industry leaders from Oman, Belgium and Kuwait, and engaged global investors including La Caisse and Ingka Group to scale clean energy investments in India. He also attended the inauguration of the India Pavilion at Davos, which showcased India as a reliable destination for global partnerships aligned with Viksit Bharat 2047 and sustainable growth.
