Second phase of Sidhwan canal waterfront likely to be ready by Nov

The Sidhwan Canal waterfront project's second phase will most probably be completed by November.

Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister of Punjab Food, told the media that the work on the second phase of the Sidhwan Canal waterfront project is going on at full speed, and it will be a Diwali gift for residents.

He said that the project's first phase, which is around 1km from Ferozepur Road to Ferozepur Railway Line, has already been completed at around Rs 4.74 crore while paying a visit to the site and that a massive number of residents now visit the area along with their children and families.

The project includes developing a cycling track, a footpath along the canal, wall climbing activities, a green belt, a playing zone and sitting areas.

The Sidhwan Canal is being developed along a 1.6 km long stretch from Pakhowal Road to Dugri Road at the price of Rs 5.06 crore in the second phase. It will have a cycle track on both sides, a double road along the canal and green belts.

A waterfront from Dugri Road to Dhuri Line would be developed under the project's third phase. Ashu additionally said that a large number of area residents would profit as it could be used for morning or evening walk along with other leisure activities, with the development of around 800m stretches at around Rs 3 crore.
