Vedanta Aluminium Launches ‘TarakkiKiTaiyaari’ Campaign

Vedanta Aluminium has launched the ‘#TarakkiKiTaiyaari’ campaign in the run-up to International Women’s Day 2026, highlighting the importance of inclusive participation in India’s industrial growth. The month-long initiative will feature expert interactions, health initiatives and community outreach activities across Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

The campaign will bring together thought leaders including Kiran Bedi and Padma Shri awardee Arunima Sinha for engagement sessions with employees. It will also include grassroots programmes such as health camps, volunteer-led initiatives and community events aimed at strengthening women’s participation in industry and society.

Women remain underrepresented in sectors such as metals, mining and manufacturing despite their rapid expansion. Through the ‘#TarakkiKiTaiyaari’ campaign, Vedanta Aluminium aims to shift the conversation from aspiration to preparation by creating opportunities that support women’s advancement and leadership. Women currently account for 21 per cent of the company’s workforce, with a target of increasing this share to 30 per cent by 2030. To support this goal, the company has prioritised 50 per cent hiring of women at entry-level roles to build a stronger and more diverse talent pipeline.

Vedanta Aluminium has introduced several initiatives to strengthen women’s participation across its operations. These include India’s first fully women-operated potline at its Jharsuguda facility, deployment of women in critical smelting and production roles through structured training programmes, and the establishment of an all-women locomotive engine crew. The company has also expanded ‘Agnivahini’, its all-women firefighting squad, to over 100 trained members. Women are increasingly taking up roles in control rooms, mining engineering, digitalisation and automation across Vedanta Aluminium’s operations.

The campaign will include recognition ceremonies, town halls, cultural programmes, mental wellbeing and cancer awareness sessions, along with community outreach drives across the Jamkhani, Ghogharapalli and Kuraloi mining locations. These activities are expected to engage more than 1,700 women through celebrations and the felicitation of frontline health workers and self-help groups.

A special film highlighting Vedanta Aluminium’s diversity journey is also scheduled to be released on 8 March, reinforcing the company’s commitment to building an inclusive workforce and expanding opportunities for women across industrial and community ecosystems.
