Govt sanctions Rs 879 cr for two roads in Madhya Pradesh

The Government of India (GoI) has sanctioned Rs 879 crore for two roads in Madhya Pradesh that are important from the standpoint of tourism, according to Public Works Minister Gopal Bhargava.

With the upgrading of these roads, better road connectivity will be available from Sanchi to Chanderi, as well as from Kanha National Park to Amarkantak, the source of the Narmada River, and tourists visiting the Raipura Fossil Park. Gopal Bhargava thanked Nitin Gadkari, the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, for his approval.

The standing finance committee of the GoI approved Rs 386 crore for an 81 km road from Kurwai to Mungawali-Chanderi and Rs 493 crore for a 93-km road from Dindori to Mandla on Friday, according to Principal Secretary Public Works Neeraj Mandloi.

Tourists visiting Sanchi and Chanderi in the state will benefit from the upgrading of the Kurwai-Mungawali-Chanderi road, according to Mandloi. The east-west corridor in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, will be easily accessible to the residents. Similarly, residents of this region will have easy access to Chhattisgarh as a result of the upgrade of Mandla-Dindori.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is the apex body for the formulation and administration of rules, regulations, and laws relating to road transport, as well as transportation research and increasing the mobility and efficiency of India's road transportation system. It is responsible for the development of the country's National Highways through officers from the Central Engineering Services cadre. Road transportation is a vital component of the country's economic development. It has an impact on the rate, structure, and pattern of growth.
