BRO Initiates Phase 3 of India-China Border Roads Project

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has commenced Phase 3 of the India-China border roads project, a significant initiative aimed at bolstering strategic connectivity along the border. This phase involves the construction and upgrading of crucial road networks to improve accessibility and operational efficiency in these remote areas.

The project, which is a priority for national security, focuses on developing infrastructure that can withstand the harsh climatic conditions and challenging terrains of the region. BRO's Director General, Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhary, emphasised the strategic importance of this phase, noting that the upgraded infrastructure would significantly enhance the operational readiness of the armed forces. He also highlighted the role of advanced engineering solutions in overcoming the geographical challenges posed by the region.

The third phase includes constructing new roads and upgrading existing ones, with a focus on ensuring all-weather connectivity. This development is part of a broader plan to improve the logistical capabilities along the northern and eastern borders, which have been areas of strategic concern.
