HSIIDC Seeks GMDA Nod For Rs 9,230 mn Underpass On Dwarka E-way

The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has sought approval from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) for an underpass and interchange on the Dwarka Expressway. The project has an estimated cost of Rs 9,230 million (mn) and is intended to ease traffic bottlenecks along a rapidly developing corridor. HSIIDC has submitted formal plans and preliminary designs to the authority.

The proposal describes a grade-separated junction to improve vehicular flow and reduce congestion for commuters and goods movement. Officials framed the scheme as part of a broader effort to upgrade connectivity between industrial estates and emerging residential sectors. The authority will examine technical drawings, traffic impact assessments and alignment options during the review.

Approval will require clearances on land acquisition, utility relocation and environmental safeguards before tendering can begin. HSIIDC indicated that coordination with municipal departments and agencies will be necessary to resolve interagency issues and to finalise implementation roles. The project budget will be scrutinised for cost allocations and contingency planning.

Construction is expected to pose temporary disruption and the corporation outlined measures for traffic management and phased execution to limit inconvenience. Stakeholder consultations were cited as a means to address local concerns and to refine construction schedules and mitigation plans. The design aims to integrate with existing road links and to allow future scalability.

The GMDA will review the submission at the appropriate committee level and may request additional studies or modifications before granting sanction. Once approved, the project will move towards procurement and contractor selection with timelines to be established by the implementing agency. Supporters expect the scheme to deliver sustained improvements in travel time and urban mobility along the corridor.
