RRR North Works To Begin In August Operational By End Of 2029

The National Highways Authority of India has issued tenders for the northern segment of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road, a 161-km six-lane access-controlled greenfield expressway. Bids must be submitted online by July seven and technical bids will be opened on July eight. The authority said works are likely to commence in August and the corridor is expected to become operational by the end of 2029 to enhance regional connectivity around Hyderabad.

Procurement will follow Design, Build, Operate and Transfer or Hybrid Annuity Model routes, and contractors will have three years from the date of issue of the Letter of Agreement to complete the works. The NHAI has reconfigured the scheme into two packages instead of five and assigned the highway the number NH-161AA to streamline bidding and delivery.

The corridor will include 44 major bridges, 127 minor bridges, four road-over-bridges, 44 underpasses, 1,262 culverts and nine toll plazas, and will link with National Highways and State Highways at nine points. The 161.518-km stretch from Girmapur in Sangareddy district to Tangadpally in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district has been estimated at an overall civil construction cost of Rs 93.624 billion (Rs 93.624 bn). Package one covers 83.518 km at an estimated Rs 49.187 bn and Package two covers 78 km at an estimated Rs 44.43 bn.

The northern segment experienced repeated delays, including an earlier attempt when the project was divided into five packages and received no bids after documentation was not uploaded during tendering. The NHAI reduced the number of packages to two in February 2026 and has reported rapid progress on land acquisition, with 927 hectares secured for Package one and 886 hectares for Package two. Awards have been announced for more than 70 per cent of the acquired land while remaining cases progress.

Railways To Operate Over 300 Special Trains For Rath Yatra

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Indian Railways (IR) will operate more than 300 special trains for the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra in Odisha and over 100 special trains during the Onam festival in Keralam. MEMU Suspension Disrupts Commuters Between Vadodara And Dahod
