Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project to Complete First Phase by Dec 2027

Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi has announced that the first phase of the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project will be completed by December 2027. The first phase will span 26 kilometers and feature 20 stations, representing Odisha’s cultural heritage.

The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 6,256 crore, will run 13 trains, each with three coaches. It is expected to serve 95,000 passengers daily. Sarangi also confirmed that the necessary land for the project has been acquired, with more land set to be provided soon. The state government will fully fund the first phase, and assistance from the central government will be assessed later.

The project is expected to ease traffic congestion and provide sustainable urban transportation options for the city.
