Railways Announce Special Trains Amid IndiGo Flight Disruptions

To ease passenger difficulties caused by widespread IndiGo flight disruptions, Western Railway and East Coast Railway have announced a series of special trains on special fares, along with capacity augmentation across multiple routes.

Western Railway will operate seven special trains on special fare between key stations including Mumbai Central–New Delhi, Mumbai Central–Bhiwani, Mumbai Central–Shakur Basti, Bandra Terminus–Durgapura, Valsad–Bilaspur, and Sabarmati–Delhi/Sarai Rohilla. The move is aimed at meeting the surge in demand for accommodation, particularly in air-conditioned coaches.

Western Railway Special Trains

Train No. 04001/04002: Mumbai Central–New Delhi Superfast Special (2 trips)

Train No. 09001/09002: Mumbai Central–Bhiwani Superfast Bi-Weekly Special (14 trips)

Train No. 09003/09004: Mumbai Central–Shakur Basti Superfast Special (4 trips)

Train No. 09730/09729: Bandra Terminus–Durgapura Superfast Special (2 trips)

Train No. 08244/08243: Valsad–Bilaspur Weekly Special (8 trips)

Train No. 09497/09498: Sabarmati–Delhi Superfast Special (4 trips)

Train No. 04061: Sabarmati–Delhi Sarai Rohilla Special (1 trip)

East Coast Railway Special Trains

East Coast Railway will run additional services to clear stranded passengers heading towards Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Howrah.

Train No. 08403: Puri–Anand Vihar Terminal (8 Dec 2025)

Additional Coaches

To further meet demand, East Coast Railway has augmented several major trains:

One First AC coach added to Train No. 22811 (BBS–NDLS Tejas Rajdhani, 7 Dec 2025) and Train No. 22812 (NDLS–BBS, 8 Dec 2025).

One Third AC coach added to Train No. 22823 (BBS–NDLS, 8 Dec 2025) and Train No. 22824 (NDLS–BBS, 9 Dec 2025).

One AC Economic Class coach added to Train No. 12882 and 12881 (Puri–Shalimar Garib Rath, 8–11 Dec 2025).

One AC Economic Class coach added to Train No. 22883 and 22884 (Puri–YPR Garib Rath, 12–13 Dec 2025).

Indian Railways said these measures aim to ensure smooth travel for affected passengers and manage the unexpected surge in demand across major routes.
