POWERGRID Commissions Eight Point One Gigawatt Rajasthan Solar Transmission

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) through its wholly owned subsidiary POWERGRID Narela Transmission Limited has commissioned the Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for evacuation of power from Solar Energy Zones in Rajasthan, a project designed to evacuate eight point one gigawatt (GW) of solar generation under Phase-II Part-G. The project was awarded under the tariff based competitive bidding process and was developed to move large volumes of solar energy from Rajasthan into the national grid. The scheme was completed and declared commercially operational after full commissioning on seventh December 2025 and receipt of the formal notification for commercial operation on 24 February 2026.

The company disclosed the completion in an official filing to the National Stock Exchange and BSE Limited and aligned the announcement with Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015. The disclosure was signed by the company secretary and recorded the dates of commissioning and formal notification, providing clarity for investors and market participants. The move follows earlier transmission initiatives by the group to strengthen evacuation capacity.

With commissioning complete, POWERGRID has strengthened its transmission network and enhanced grid stability across states by enabling the reliable flow of renewable energy. The scheme will reduce congestion on existing corridors and support the integration of intermittent solar output by providing dedicated evacuation capacity. The enhanced infrastructure is expected to support the broader national clean energy transition while improving supply reliability for regions that draw on Rajasthan generation.

The project underscores POWERGRID's continuing efforts to build interstate transmission capabilities and to implement projects under competitive bidding frameworks to meet evacuation needs. By adding dedicated capacity for solar zones it aims to lower curtailment risk and to facilitate increased renewable deployment in line with national objectives. The company indicated that the commissioning represents a significant milestone in its grid modernisation programme and in enabling large scale renewable evacuation.
