Waaree Energies Secures 300 MW Wind Project in Gujarat

Waaree Energies has secured a 300 megawatt (MW) wind power project in Gujarat under a 25-year supply agreement. The company will be responsible for development and long-term supply of electricity from the project, according to the release. The award represents a notable addition to its renewable energy portfolio. The company framed the award as consistent with its growth strategy in renewable generation.

The project will add 300 MW of capacity to Waaree Energies' pipeline and is expected to contribute to grid decarbonisation efforts in the region. The installation will deploy utility scale turbines and associated infrastructure to feed power into the local transmission network. Project execution is intended to follow established engineering, procurement and construction practices. Use of local suppliers and contractors during construction is expected to support regional supply chains and skills development.

The 25-year supply agreement is structured to provide predictable offtake for the generated power and is expected to underpin stable revenue over the contract term. Such long-term contracts typically support financing and investor confidence by reducing merchant exposure. Waaree Energies indicated that securing this contract aligns with its strategic focus on expanding wind capacity alongside its existing solar operations. Predictable cash flows under the supply pact are commonly used to secure project financing and extend investor engagement during the asset life.

The company said the award will bolster its order book and strengthen its position in the renewable energy market. Management expects the project to enhance operational scale and create opportunities for further bids in the wind segment. The development is presented as part of the firm's broader transition toward a diversified clean energy portfolio. The company believes the contract will validate its technical capability and broaden market reach.
