NBCC Bags Rs 762.7 mn Contract for Dharanidhar University

NBCC (India) Ltd (NBCC) has secured a work order worth Rs 762.7 million (mn) from Dharanidhar University in Odisha, expanding its presence in education infrastructure. The contract, awarded under the Project Management Consultancy model, covers an academic building, hostel infrastructure and related external development works with utilities and civil infrastructure. The project will be executed on the university campus in Keonjhar district to strengthen institutional capacity as the university scales up academic programmes and student intake. Dharanidhar University was granted university status in 2023 and is upgrading its physical infrastructure to meet growing enrolment.

For NBCC the order adds to its order book as the company diversifies across institutional, residential and government projects. Operating under the Project Management Consultancy model, the firm typically earns fees as a percentage of project cost, allowing it to take on large public sector assignments with limited balance sheet exposure. The win reinforces NBCC as a preferred execution agency for central and state government-backed projects and extends its work across education, healthcare, housing redevelopment and urban infrastructure.

Education infrastructure activity has risen as states invest in expanding universities, colleges and residential facilities to meet rising demand for higher education. Odisha has pursued campus modernisation and institutional capacity building as part of a wider human capital strategy. Market participants noted that single orders of this scale may not materially change NBCC financials, but a steady inflow of mid-sized contracts contributes to revenue visibility and strengthens the execution pipeline. Observers will track order book growth, execution pace and margin stability in coming quarters.

The Dharanidhar University project is expected to add to NBCC revenue over the execution period and to consolidate the company role in public sector infrastructure in eastern India. The contract underlines state and central efforts to expand higher education capacity and upgrade campus facilities. Execution at Keonjhar will require coordinated delivery of civil works, utilities and external development and will be incorporated into the firm project pipeline. NBCC will include the assignment in its portfolio while maintaining focus on timely delivery and margin management.
