Odisha Scales New Heights with Archery & Sport Academies

In a major boost to sporting ambitions, the Odisha government and Tata Steel inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to establish dedicated High-Performance Centres (HPCs) for archery and sport climbing. This collaborative effort aims to nurture exceptional talent and propel Odisha athletes onto national and international podiums.

The partnership will see the establishment of the "Odisha Tata Archery Academy" and the "Odisha Tata Steel Adventure Foundation Sport Climbing Academy," both housed in Bhubaneswar. These academies will serve as hubs of excellence, providing top-notch infrastructure, training facilities, and expert guidance to budding athletes.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, expressing his delight at the collaboration, highlighted the success of their previous partnership in the hockey HPC. He emphasized the immense potential for archery and sport climbing in the state and expressed confidence in the joint effort's ability to create a thriving sporting ecosystem.

The MoU also outlines plans for regional development centres in archery and grassroots programs run by both academies. This multi-pronged approach ensures talent identification and nurturing from the ground up, providing a strong foundation for future generations of athletes.

The vision for these HPCs, as outlined by the Chief Minister's Office, is to empower athletes with the necessary skills and resources to compete at the highest levels. Access to state-of-the-art facilities like the Kalinga Stadium's gymnasium, swimming pool, and sports science centre will further ensure holistic development, going beyond physical training.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in Odisha's quest for sporting glory. With Tata Steel's expertise and the state's unwavering commitment, these HPCs have the potential to launch Odisha's athletes onto international stages and rewrite sporting history.
