Centre Finalises Mamnoor Airport Expansion Plan

The central government has finalised a plan to expand Mamnoor Airport near Karimnagar in Telangana, marking a significant step for regional aviation infrastructure. The decision follows studies and consultations with state authorities and civil aviation experts and is intended to strengthen air connectivity for the northern districts. Officials described the project as part of broader efforts to integrate smaller airports into the national network.

The expansion plan envisages runway augmentation, a modernised passenger terminal and upgraded cargo handling facilities to accommodate a wider range of aircraft and increased traffic. Air traffic control and ground support services are set to be enhanced to meet civil aviation safety standards and operational requirements. The project will be implemented in phases to minimise disruption to existing operations.

Funding is expected to combine central allocations with state contributions and private partnerships where feasible, and officials indicated that detailed financial proposals are under preparation. Environmental assessments and land clearances will be pursued as part of the statutory process before major works begin. The government has also indicated that technical and financial feasibility reports will guide the tendering process.
