Gadkari Flags Off Rs 44 Bn National Highway Projects in Vidisha

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple National Highway projects worth around Rs 44 billion in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha parliamentary constituency, marking a major push to regional road infrastructure and connectivity.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the projects would significantly benefit the region by improving road links and supporting economic development. Speaking to reporters in Bhopal, Chouhan described the initiative as a major development boost for Vidisha and surrounding areas. “Nitin Gadkari is bringing great gifts to our region by inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for key National Highway projects,” he said.

As part of the programme, Gadkari inaugurated and performed the bhoomi pujan for eight National Highway projects. These include the Raisen–Vidisha National Highway and road stretches connecting Vidisha with Gyaraspur, Rahatgarh and Sagar. The projects are expected to strengthen inter-district connectivity, reduce travel time and support the movement of goods and passengers across central Madhya Pradesh.

Chouhan said the upgraded road network would enhance access to markets, healthcare and education while also supporting industrial and agricultural activities in the region. “Development works costing approximately Rs 44 billion are being launched for the people of the Vidisha parliamentary constituency,” he added.

Separately, a day earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav transferred Rs 18.36 billion to over 10.25 million beneficiaries under the Ladli Behna Yojana and disbursed over Rs 900 million as gas cylinder refill subsidies to 29 lakh beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

CM Yadav also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development works worth Rs 2.06 billion in the Sohagpur Assembly constituency of Narmadapuram district, including a newly constructed circuit house at Makhan Nagar. Addressing the gathering, he said Madhya Pradesh was working in mission mode on four pillars of development—the poor, youth, farmers and women—with a strong focus on empowerment and inclusive growth.
