Hyderabad to Build First Double-Decker Flyover at Madinaguda

Hyderabad is set to construct its first double-decker flyover at Madinaguda, a significant move aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the city. This ambitious project, led by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), is a part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) to enhance urban infrastructure.

The double-decker flyover will span 2.5 kilometres, providing a dedicated route for private vehicles on the upper deck and for public transport, including buses, on the lower deck. This innovative design aims to streamline traffic flow and reduce travel time for commuters in one of Hyderabad's busiest areas.

The Madinaguda flyover will be equipped with modern amenities such as intelligent traffic management systems, LED street lighting, and pedestrian-friendly walkways. These features are intended to ensure safety, efficiency, and convenience for all road users.

The project is expected to cost approximately ?500 crore and will be executed in phases to minimise disruption to existing traffic. Construction is slated to begin later this year, with completion targeted within the next three years. Once operational, the flyover is anticipated to significantly alleviate traffic bottlenecks and enhance connectivity to major commercial and residential hubs in the city.

The GHMC's decision to implement a double-decker flyover reflects Hyderabad's commitment to adopting innovative solutions for urban development. This project is poised to set a precedent for future infrastructure initiatives in the city, promoting sustainable growth and improved quality of life for its residents.
