Sikkim CM Appeals to Nitin Gadkari for Road Infrastructure Upgrades

Sikkim Chief Minister has appealed to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for urgent enhancements in road infrastructure across the state. Highlighting the critical need for improved connectivity to foster economic growth and tourism, the CM emphasised the importance of timely action to address existing challenges.

During the meeting with Gadkari, the CM outlined specific areas requiring immediate attention, including road expansion projects, maintenance of existing highways, and implementation of new connectivity initiatives. These measures are aimed at reducing travel time, enhancing safety, and promoting smoother transportation of goods and services.

The discussions underscored the CM's commitment to leveraging robust road infrastructure as a catalyst for sustainable development in Sikkim. The proposed upgrades are expected to bolster the state's connectivity with neighbouring regions and facilitate easier access to remote areas, thereby improving livelihoods and promoting inclusive growth.

Gadkari assured the CM of the Ministry's support in expediting necessary approvals and allocations to kickstart the identified projects promptly. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure in the northeastern region, acknowledging the strategic importance of improved road networks for regional connectivity and socio-economic progress.

The collaborative efforts between the state government and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways aim to transform Sikkim's road infrastructure, aligning with broader national objectives of fostering connectivity and ensuring equitable development across all states.
