GMDA to Build Four Lane Flyover Near Dwarka Expressway

On 20 April 2026 the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, GMDA, announced plans to build a four lane flyover over a railway track adjacent to the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram. The authority described the project as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade urban infrastructure in the area. The announcement followed planning studies and internal reviews carried out by the agency and routine traffic assessments. Public notices and formal approvals were indicated as next steps in the project process.

The proposed structure will span the railway corridor in the vicinity of the expressway and is intended to provide an uninterrupted link for motor traffic. The authority indicated that design work will address safety and drainage considerations and pedestrian safety along the route. Detailed engineering drawings and site surveys were referenced as part of preparatory works. Stakeholder consultations were mentioned as necessary before commencement of construction.

The project will require coordination with the national railway authority and municipal agencies to secure statutory permissions and manage safe crossings and will adhere to applicable standards. Land acquisition requirements were not detailed in the initial notice and will be clarified during the planning phase. The authority noted that traffic management plans will be developed to minimise disruption during construction. Utility diversions and environmental clearances were listed among preparatory items to be addressed.

Local officials will publish further details on alignment, timelines and funding as approvals progress and detailed designs are finalised and will publish schedules online and through local offices. Residents and commuters in the corridor will be kept informed of planned works and any temporary traffic arrangements where possible. The announcement forms part of wider infrastructure planning in the region aimed at upgrading connectivity around major arterial routes. The authority reiterated that safety and minimal disruption would guide execution of the project.
