Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro corridor project in Pune to start soon

The Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) told the media that the commencement date of the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro corridor was to be announced this week.

Officials of PMRDA told the media that the land acquisition is almost complete, and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the University flyover plan, which has cleared the decks for the project's concessionaire, and Tata Siemens will start the project.

According to the official, the project is likely to get completed in three years and four months.

As per the officials, after the commencement, the project will begin in eight locations alongside the 23.3 km route.

The project's pre-engineering and geotechnical work have been completed, while around 70% of the work sites have been barricaded. The soil testing, yard casting and structural designation work have also started.

The metro corridor will connect Mann near Hinjewadi IT park to the civil court in Shivajinagar. According to the officials, it will take around 40 minutes to complete an end-to-end ride on the route, with 23 stations. The concessionaire will commence the project based on designing, building, operating, financing and transferring for an initial concession time of 35 years.
