Kolkata Metro Launches Integrated Ticketing for Underwater Routes

Kolkata Metro has introduced an integrated ticketing system for its underwater metro services, aiming to streamline the ticketing process and enhance passenger convenience. This new system allows passengers to use a single ticket for both regular metro services and the underwater routes, facilitating seamless travel across the city.

The initiative comes as a significant step towards improving the overall commuting experience for residents and visitors in Kolkata. With the integrated ticketing system, passengers can now access the underwater metro services without the hassle of purchasing separate tickets, promoting efficiency and ease of use.

The underwater metro services, which operate beneath the Hooghly River, have been gaining popularity since their inception. However, the absence of an integrated ticketing system posed challenges for passengers, requiring them to navigate between different ticketing processes for regular metro and underwater routes.

By implementing this unified ticketing system, Kolkata Metro aims to simplify the journey for passengers and encourage more people to utilise the underwater metro services. This move aligns with the metro's broader goal of enhancing connectivity and promoting sustainable transportation solutions in the city.

The integrated ticketing system is expected to streamline operations and reduce congestion at ticket counters, leading to smoother passenger flow and improved service efficiency. Additionally, it reflects Kolkata Metro's commitment to leveraging technology to enhance the overall commuter experience and stay abreast of modern transportation trends.

Passengers can now enjoy the convenience of travelling seamlessly across Kolkata's metro network, including its underwater routes, with the introduction of the integrated ticketing system. This initiative marks a significant milestone in Kolkata Metro's efforts to modernise its services and cater to the evolving needs of urban commuters.
