Survey Approved for 191-km Jaipur-Rewari Rail Line

The Ministry of Railways has approved a preliminary survey for a new 191-km rail corridor linking Jaipur and Rewari. The approval clears the way for detailed engineering and alignment studies for the proposed route. Officials indicated that the survey will assess topography, station locations and connectivity with existing lines. The route is expected to traverse mixed terrain and will require detailed mapping before design.

Indian Railways will oversee the fieldwork and technical assessments with teams deployed along the corridor to record geotechnical, hydrological and soil conditions. The survey will examine options for track alignment, bridge and tunnel requirements and major earthworks while considering minimised displacement and environmental sensitivities. The process is expected to produce a comprehensive feasibility dossier to guide subsequent design stages. Survey teams will also record existing infrastructure to plan seamless interchanges.

Authorities expect the new corridor to strengthen regional connectivity by creating more direct links between major urban and industrial centres and by providing alternative routing to decongest existing tracks. The alignment is anticipated to support both passenger and freight operations, offering potential reductions in travel time and operational costs. Local economies along the route are likely to see improved market access and investment interest as transport reliability improves. Improved rail links are likely to encourage logistics firms to optimise supply chains in the region.

Following the completion of the survey, the project will require land acquisition, environmental clearances and financial approvals before construction can begin, and authorities will engage with local stakeholders to address compensation and resettlement concerns. Technical reports from the survey will inform cost estimates and timelines that will be published as part of the project documentation. The development is presented as a strategic enhancement of the rail network intended to support long term economic growth. Stakeholder consultations will aim to balance project needs with social and environmental safeguards.
