UP Cabinet Approves Land Transfer For Agra Metro Corridor

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved the transfer of land for construction of metro stations and viaduct sections under Corridor II of the Agra Metro Rail Project (Agra Metro).

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow to facilitate the Agra Cantt-Kalindi Vihar metro corridor and to expedite delivery by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC).

An official statement said 550 square metres of vacant land located in the premises of the Regional Employment Office at Mauja Chak Avval in Sadar tehsil, currently used as a park, will be transferred to UPMRC for the construction of metro stations and viaduct. The land will be allotted free of cost with a concession on the circle rate and subject to prescribed terms and conditions. The transfer is part of broader preparations for Corridor II, which aims to integrate with existing urban transport networks.

State Higher Education Minister and Agra South MLA Yogendra Upadhyay welcomed the decision and conveyed gratitude to the chief minister, describing it as a significant gift for the people of Agra. He said the proposed corridor would help reduce traffic congestion, shorten travel times and promote environmental conservation. The minister noted that the Adityanath administration has pursued measures to bring world-class urban infrastructure to Agra.

Officials indicated the metro project is expected to modernise the city's transport system and provide tourists and local residents with faster, safer and more convenient commuting options. The cabinet decision follows consultations with local authorities to ensure minimal disruption to public spaces and services during construction. The report was auto generated from the PTI news service; the news agency is responsible for the content. Preparations will include detailed surveying and alignment studies soon.
