Western Railway Shifts Mumbai Central AC Special Terminal to Maninagar

Western Railway has changed the terminal station of its weekly AC special trains between Mumbai Central and Maninagar, moving the terminal from Vatva to Maninagar for passenger convenience following a review of feedback and operational requirements. Both train numbers 09082, the Maninagar–Mumbai Central AC Superfast Special, and 09081, the Mumbai Central–Maninagar AC Superfast Special, will originate and terminate at Maninagar rather than Vatva. The decision was taken to streamline operations on the busy Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor.

According to the revised schedule, train number 09082 will depart Maninagar every Friday at 22:40 hours and is scheduled to reach Mumbai Central at 07:10 hours the next day. In the return direction, train number 09081 will leave Mumbai Central every Thursday at 23:20 hours and arrive at Maninagar at 07:25 hours the following day. The special services will operate between May 15 and May 26, 2026. Timings have been issued by Western Railway in its passenger information circular.

Western Railway, based in Mumbai and responsible for rail operations across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and parts of Madhya Pradesh, serves millions of passengers annually. Maninagar station, described as a major Ahmedabad hub with improved connectivity and passenger amenities compared with Vatva, is expected to make boarding and alighting more convenient for travellers from central and eastern Ahmedabad. The change is likely to reduce road transit time to the station for many commuters.

The special trains will halt at Vadodara, Surat, Vapi and Borivali in both directions, maintaining key stoppages along the route. Booking is open at passenger reservation system counters and through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website. Western Railway advised passengers to check the latest schedule and book early as special services commonly witness heavy demand. Travellers are recommended to verify platform and coach information prior to departure.
