TRAI Assesses Network Quality In North 24 Parganas And Nadia

TRAI assessed network quality across North 24 Parganas and Nadia districts and adjoining areas in West Bengal, along National Highway 12 from Barasat to Raiganj and the railway route from Howrah to Bardhaman via Bandel. Tests measured key quality of service parameters for mobile data and voice in real time using TRAI suggested equipment and standardised protocols, including measurements for fourth generation (4G) and fifth generation (5G) services.

On data services average download speeds were Airtel 120.39 Mbps, BSNL 12.50 Mbps, RJIL 212.68 Mbps and VIL 23.36 Mbps, while average upload speeds were Airtel 28.09 Mbps, BSNL four point zero six Mbps, RJIL 25.87 Mbps and VIL 13.73 Mbps. Mean latency at the 50th percentile was 56.37 milliseconds for Airtel, 51.24 milliseconds for BSNL, 42.29 milliseconds for RJIL and 46.67 milliseconds for VIL.

In hotspot measurements Airtel recorded 4G download of 43.28 Mbps and upload six point nine seven Mbps while 5G download reached 181.53 Mbps with upload 36.97 Mbps. RJIL recorded 4G hotspot download of 50.08 Mbps with upload 13.64 Mbps and 5G hotspot download of 242.15 Mbps with upload 29.64 Mbps. BSNL and VIL hotspot downloads were 12.01 Mbps and 16.20 Mbps with uploads three point nine five Mbps and nine point four four Mbps respectively.

On voice services the report gave call setup success rates of Airtel 96.66 per cent, BSNL 83.79 per cent, RJIL 99.72 per cent and VIL 99.91 per cent. Call setup times were one point eight four, six point three three, zero point six two and zero point nine nine seconds for Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL respectively while drop call rates were zero per cent, five point eight five per cent and zero point five five per cent for Airtel, BSNL and RJIL and VIL. Mean Opinion Score, referred to as MOS, ranged from three point one three for BSNL to four point five two for RJIL with Airtel and VIL at four point zero two and four point four five. The detailed report is available on the TRAI website.
