Telangana Approves Rs 5.3 bn Flyover From Alvin Colony to Miyapur

The Telangana government has granted administrative approval for the Alvin Colony to Miyapur flyover project in Hyderabad, aimed at easing congestion in the city's northwestern corridor. The elevated corridor is sanctioned with an estimated budget of Rs 5.3 billion (bn). The authorisation signals continued investment in urban transport infrastructure across the metropolitan area.

The proposed alignment will connect Alvin Colony in the CMC to Miyapur and will pass through Anjaiah Nagar, providing a direct route across several busy neighbourhoods. The corridor will extend one point eight kilometre and the structure will be 24 metres wide, configured as six lanes to accommodate high traffic volumes. The design targets uninterrupted traffic flow and improved capacity for heavy commuter movements.

Financially, the total sanction of Rs 5.3 bn includes Rs 3.3 bn allocated for construction and initial land acquisition, with a further Rs 2 bn earmarked specifically for land purchase and resettlement activities. Officials indicated that the acquisition process is expected to begin shortly and that preparatory surveys and clearances will precede contractor mobilisation. The split funding seeks to expedite project execution while addressing land management issues.

Planners forecast that the flyover will deliver signal-free connectivity for commuters travelling towards Miyapur, Lingampally and Patancheru and will relieve congestion in Balanagar, Kukatpally, JNTU and Nizampet areas. Once operational, the corridor is intended to strengthen urban mobility infrastructure in Hyderabad's rapidly developing western corridor and to support smoother freight and passenger movements across industrial and residential zones. Biltrax Construction Data is tracking more than 38,000 projects on its technology platform, which is cited as a resource for market participants seeking leads and project intelligence. The project is expected to form part of a broader strategy to modernise road links in the metropolitan region.
