The tender covers hardware, software, communications infrastructure and back office systems required to manage ticketing and revenue. The authority indicated that the package will support smartcards, contactless payments and token vending to standardise passenger access across the new corridors.

The AFC system will be defined on a phased implementation aligned with civil works and station commissioning schedules. Provision for on?line account management, remote monitoring and real time reconciliation is included in the technical brief. Bidders are expected to demonstrate experience in large scale urban transit deployments and interoperability with existing ticketing systems. The procurement document outlines warranty, spare parts, training and a defined period of operation and maintenance.

Maha Metro has emphasised that the tender process will follow applicable public procurement rules with prequalification criteria to ensure financial and technical capacity. The authority stated that evaluation will consider compliance, lifecycle costs and support arrangements to deliver a reliable passenger experience. The AFC contract for Phase Two is described as a key enabler to provide seamless connectivity and fare integration with the operational network. Stakeholders expect the system to reduce queuing and expedite passenger flows at stations.

Project delivery will require close coordination between system suppliers, civil contractors and the metro operator to align testing and trial operations prior to revenue service. Maha Metro indicated that successful bidders will be required to participate in on site trials and handover protocols before commercial operations commence. The authority also noted that adherence to cybersecurity, payment card industry standards and interoperability guidelines will be mandatory. The procurement notice and full tender documents are available on the authority portal.
