Gangavaram and Visakhapatnam to get connected by express highway

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that it will construct an express highway to connect Gangavaram Port and Sheela Nagar in Visakhapatnam.

The NHAI's Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Visakhapatnam District Collector, A Mallikarjuna IAS, stated that the new express highway would run 10 km from Gangavaram Port. According to the DPR, flyovers would be installed on more than 70 per cent of this connecting road. The Gangavaram Port's imports and exports would greatly benefit from this route, which would also improve connectivity to Visakhapatnam, according to NHAI. After a meeting at the VMRDA Children's Arena, additional project-related information will be made available.

The six-lane greenfield Raipur-Vizag Economic Corridor was recently digitally inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2022.
