L&T Wins Design Build Operate Order For Guwahati Water Project

Mumbai, March 25, 2026: The Water and Effluent Treatment business vertical of Larsen & Toubro has won a significant design build operate order from the Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water and Sewerage Board in Assam for a water management project intended to deliver safe and continuous water supply to households in South-East Guwahati. The project has been conceived to operate on a 24/7 basis and to improve the reliability of the city's water system. The order has been classified as significant under the company's order classification.

The scope of work includes the design, supply, installation, construction, testing and commissioning of a barge-mounted intake system, raw water rising main, a water treatment plant, reservoirs and a booster pumping station. The contract also covers the creation of a distribution network with household service connections and the implementation of a fully integrated supervisory control and data acquisition system for real-time monitoring and performance management. Operation and maintenance for five years is included in the agreement to ensure sustained performance and responsiveness.
