Under Tranche II, the Ministry, in collaboration with the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, is offering 12 limestone blocks for auction located across the districts of Anantnag, Rajouri and Poonch. The package includes newly identified blocks and those being re?auctioned on the second attempt, reflecting a push for optimal resource utilisation and sustained industry participation. The deposits are broadly classified under the United Nations Framework Classification (UNFC) G3 and G4 stages of exploration, indicating promising geological potential and industrial?grade limestone resources.

The launch will be attended by Shri Piyush Goyal, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, and Shri Ashwani Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, along with senior officials from both administrations, underscoring the joint Centre and UT commitment to accelerate mineral development. The auction process is being conducted under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 and the Mineral (Auction) Rules, 2015, as amended, and is designed to be transparent and competitive. Bidding will be undertaken through a digital e?auction platform aligned with global best practices.

The Ministry emphasises the promotion of scientific and sustainable mining practices to ensure environmental safeguards and community benefits. Successful award and operationalisation of the blocks is projected to generate significant revenue, create employment opportunities and reinforce industrial growth in the UT.
